Faculty Join SB895 Rally to Save Science, Save Lives

Faculty from UC Berkeley and UC Davis Speak Out to Save Research Funding

Faculty Association members from UC Davis, San Francisco, Berkeley, and Santa Cruz joined a crowd of more than a thousand in Sacramento at the Save Science, Save Lives Rally on Monday, May 4th. The gathering was organized to promote SB 895, the California Science and Health Research Bond Act, a law that would place a $23 billion bond measure on the November ballot to create a California-based foundation to fund scientific research.

Jessica Taft, Co-President of the Council of UC Faculty Associations (CUCFA), spoke for faculty, telling the crowd: “Faculty need to be advocates for ourselves, our institutions, and for our research. We need to make our voice heard. CUCFA and the ten campus Faculty Associations will do everything we can to pass this bill.”
