Dear President Napolitano,

The Council of UC Faculty Associations understands that UC has begun collective bargaining with the UC Student-Workers Union — UAW 2865. We find great merit in many of the Student-Workers bargaining goals, as outlined at:

These goals include their desire for affordable housing, childcare, sanctuary campuses, demilitarizing UC police, and improving undergraduate student-learning conditions.

These goals will benefit not only the student workers, but the teaching mission of the university. We hope UC will make every effort to accommodate these goals.
