Dear Senator Yee,
The Council of UC Faculty Associations continues to support your efforts to repair California's whistleblower protection laws. We believe that UC employees should be provided with the same whistleblower protections and legal standing as other state employees.
The recent court case of Miklosy v. Regents has made clear how dangerous the loophole that SB 219 would remedy is. California and its citizens benefit when UC employees expose waste, fraud or abuse. SB 219 will help protect UC workers from unfair retaliation for such efforts.
That is why we support SB 219.
